• I am an experienced copywriter with
a background in education, research
and consultancy.
• I have written websites and marketing materials for a wide range of clients.
• I can help your organisation get its message across more effectively.

My background is in education and research. I read English at Keble College, University of Oxford, and then moved to London, where I started teaching. I have taught mainly English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in private language schools. I am a fully-qualified language teacher with a Cambridge/RSA Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA). I have taught Business English to a large number of professional students from companies including Merrill Lynch, EMI, Barclays, Marks & Spencers, Guinness and Paribas. As well as training corporate clients, I have worked with government and diplomatic staff from many countries. I currently combine some teaching with my copywriting and marketing activities.
I also worked for an economic research consultancy, Burns Owens Partnership, measuring the impact of the creative industries on the economy at a national, regional and sub-regional level.
I have developed my copywriting practice over the last six years and have worked for a broad range of clients including Temple Court Chambers, a set of barristers chambers in the Temple; the Governance Hub, a consortium of seven leading voluntary and community sector organisations providing information and support for charity trustees; and Focus West, a public sector business support agency specialising in the digital media sector.
I am a keen linguist and speak French, German and Italian. I also have a working knowledge of Spanish and can read Russian and Greek. I am currently completing an MA in Applied Linguistics at Birkbeck College, University of London.
As well as being a freelance copywriter, I also design websites and provide a full range of marketing services for companies and other organisations through Operative Words, a creative marketing and communications agency based in Bloomsbury.

I am an experienced freelance copywriter based in London. I have worked both as a staff copywriter for uSwitch.com, a personal finance comparison website, and as a freelance copywriter producing website content, printed brochures and newsletters for a wide range of clients. These include companies, voluntary and community sector organisations and public sector agencies. (Click here to find out more about my clients.)
My main activity is copywriting. I use words to sell, explain, persuade and inspire. I help organisations to communicate the benefits they can offer to their customers, clients and stakeholders. These benefits may be the advantages of buying a product or service from a company, or the help and support offered by a public sector agency or a charity.

I offer a number of services, all of which involve writing and communicating ideas and information to a target audience. (Click here to find out more about the services I offer.)
I mostly produce pieces of written work for either the web or print. Sometimes I am asked just to provide text for an existing website or to send to a designer for inclusion in a printed leaflet or brochure. I am happy to liaise with creative teams and printers as required.
As well as copywriting I also produce complete websites and full-colour printed documents such as leaflets, fliers and brochures. For more information about the creative design services I offer, please visit the website of Operative Words (www.opwords.com), the marketing and communications agency which I founded and run.

The services I offer can help you promote your organisation and achieve your objectives. The copywriting service I provide will allow
you to convey your key content messages to the people you need to reach: new and existing customers, clients, members, supporters or volunteers.
I work very closely with my clients and get to understand their needs and aims. I can save you considerable time and expense by providing a fast, reliable service that will free up your time to do what you do best: managing your organisation and dealing with the practical issues you face every day. Rather than having to worry about producing newsletters or updating your website, you will benefit from knowing that you have a one-stop marketing and communications solution you can rely on. I am always happy to discuss a new project, and I can offer creative ideas and suggestions for ways of presenting your arguments more effectively to your target audience.
